Bashir, Al-Ali
meet with US Helsinki Commission
Minister of Foreign Affairs Salah Bashir on Sunday met with members of the
Helsinki Commission and discussed bilateral ties and current regional
developments. During the meeting, Bashir reviewed international efforts to push
the peace process forward and underlined the need to improve Palestinians’
living conditions. He also briefed the US officials on the country’s efforts to
facilitate Iraqis’ residency in the Kingdom and the enormous pressure put on the
Kingdom’s infrastructure and resources due to hosting large numbers of Iraqis.
Also on Sunday, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Suhair Al-Ali
met with Helsinki Commission members. She briefed the delegation on the
magnitude of challenges the Kingdom is currently facing, including the rise in
international oil and wheat prices and the ongoing political instability in the
region.
