Fayez discusses regional issues with US congressional delegation

Head of the Senate Foreign Affaires Committee Feisal Fayez on Sunday met with a US delegation representing US congressional staff. Reiterating that the Palestinian issue is the core of the region’s conflicts, Fayez stressed the importance of the peace process. He also highlighted Jordan’s position on Iraq, and its rejection of violence and terrorism. Fayez said the Amman Message, launched by His Majesty King Abdullah, calls for the rejection of violence and terror, pointing out that Islam is a religion of tolerance and forgiveness. Also yesterday, Speaker of the Lower House Abdul Hadi Majali met with the delegation and discussed political developments in the region. Majali briefed the delegation on Israeli obstacles to the peace process, including Israeli plans to build new settlements, the separation wall and the economic embargo on the Palestinian people.
