Foreign minister receives US congressional
staff delegation
Foreign Minster Salah Bashir on Monday received a US Congressional staff
delegation and discussed with them current developments in the Middle East,
particularly the peace process and international efforts to push it forward.
Bashir stressed the need to sustain efforts to reach a solution leading to the
establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He added that any unilateral
measures would reflect negatively on the peace process and efforts to reach a
settlement to the conflict. He briefed the delegates on Jordan’s efforts to
facilitate Iraqis’ stay in the Kingdom, highlighting the pressure placed on its
infrastructure and resources after the arrival of thousands of Iraqis.
