King Abdullah meets King
Khalifa
His Majesty King Abdullah is scheduled to meet with US President George W. Bush
in Washington on Wednesday.
The King, who will visit Washington at the invitation of President Bush, will
discuss progress in the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, the latest
developments in the region and means to bolster bilateral ties.
On Monday, His Majesty discussed regional political developments, mainly the
Palestinian issue and the situation in Iraq, with King Hamad Ben Isa Al Khalifa
of Bahrain.
King Abdullah, who started a two-day visit to the Gulf kingdom earlier in the
day, also discussed with the Bahraini king mechanisms to bolster cooperation
between the two countries in various fields.
The two leaders examined challenges facing the region, reiterating that joint
Arab action was the only way to face these challenges and protect the interests
of the Arab nation.
During the Jordanian-Bahraini summit, which was followed by a dinner banquet in
honour of King Abdullah and the accompanying delegation, the two leaders
emphasised their keenness to activate bilateral cooperation in the economy,
commerce and investment spheres, in order to develop bilateral ties.
They also voiced support for efforts seeking to achieve tangible progress in
Palestinian-Israeli negotiations leading to the establishment of a Palestinian
state and preserving the rights of the Palestinian people.
HRH Prince Feisal, Royal Court Chief Bassem Awadallah and the Kingdom's
Ambassador in Manama Hussein Majali attended the meeting.
Also present at the meetings were Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman Ben Hamad Al
Khalifa and several other Bahraini royal family members.
