Hundreds of exhibitors from 31 countries participating in Project Rebuild Iraq 2008

AMMAN (JT) - Minister Maher Madadha, of Public Sector reform and acting minister of Industry and Trade, inaugurated on Monday the Project Rebuild Iraq 2008 fair organised by IFP Group.

Deputising for Prime Minister Nader Dahabi, Madadha toured the exhibition and got firsthand information on the products and services exhibited by around 500 Arab and international companies wishing to serve the region's markets

The opening ceremony was attended by ambassadors of the participating countries, Iraqi and Jordanian business leaders, and mangers of the exhibiting companies.

According to IFP Group Chairman Albert Aoun, 31 countries are represented at the fair with national pavilions from France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Jordan, Pakistan and the Netherlands and country pavilions from China, Korea, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

“These countries share the 4 halls at Amman Exhibition Park with scores of exhibitors from 16 other countries,” he said.

"Project Rebuild Iraq 2008 builds on the success of the previous 4 editions organised by IFP Group," Aoun added. "The show received support from government and private sector institutions alike, headed by the Jordanian government, the Iraqi Business Council, the Anbar Business Group, the Basra Development Board and the Import Export Association in Kurdistan."

Sectors covered in Project Rebuild Iraq include building and construction, electricity, telecommunications, water and sanitation, health, agriculture, security and information technology and general products and goods.

"Project Rebuild Iraq is a great opportunity for Jordanian, Iraqi and other Arab contractors, business men, traders, consultants and decision makers to connect with the international and Jordanian exhibitors offering the latest solutions, products and services to serve the region's market needs. Vast opportunities for new agency and distribution agreements are there to grab.’’ Aoun elaborated.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the IFP will hold a two-day conference covering current Iraq business opportunities, the role of the Iraqi Business Council and the Iraqi business community in Jordan in the reconstruction efforts, trade and investment opportunities in the Kurdistan, Anbar and Basra regions.

A special session will be dedicated to business and trade opportunities which the seaport of Aqaba provides to Iraq.

Aoun added that the Iraqi Business Council (IBC) is organising matchmaking and bilateral meetings between Iraqi businessmen and the international exhibitors in a special hall at the Amman Exhibitions Park,

He pointed out that Project Rebuild Iraq 2008 again received the prestigious Diamond Sponsorship of the Aqaba Development Corporation which is exhibiting at the fair to market Aqaba’s role as the gateway to Iraq’s logistics and those of Jordan and the region.
