King holds talks with Nouri al
Maliki
Amman, June 12 (Petra) – His Majesty King Abdullah II said Jordan was keen to
develop bilateral cooperation with Iraq in various field, for the interest of
the two countries.
During talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki, the King said that
Jordan places all its capabilities at the service of Iraqi government to enable
it to preserve security and stability and ensure the unity of the country.
Jordan, he added, supports efforts of the Iraqi government to establish peace
and security in all parts of Iraq, through engaging all segments of the Iraqi
society in the political process that is designed to build Iraq's future and
preserve it sovereignty.
King Abdullah highlighted the importance of extending bridges of cooperation
between Iraq and its Arab neighbors, to enable Iraq regain its effective role on
the Arab level.
He said naming a new Jordanian ambassador to Baghdad reflects Jordan's keenness
to establish strong relations with Iraq.
Al Maliki, who is currently on a two-day official visit to Jordan, briefed His
Majesty on the current situation in Iraq and efforts being exerted by government
to spread its control over all parts of Iraq.
He said Iraq was keen to strengthen cooperation with Jordan, expressing
appreciation of Jordan for hosting thousands of Iraqis and for supporting
efforts designed to achieve security and stability in Iraq.
Talks were attended by HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Prime Minister Nadir
Dahabi, Royal Court Chief Bassem Awadallah, Director of General Intelligence
Department General Mohammad Al Dahabi, as well as al Maliki's accompanying
delegation.
