Meeting for Iraq’s neighboring countries to be held in Amman
Amman, Oct.20 (Petra)—The 5th meeting of the
interior ministers of Iraq’s neighboring countries will be held in Amman on
Thursday with the participation of Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria,
Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey and Iran.
Secretary General of the Interior Ministry Mukhaimar Abu Jamous said in remarks
at the preparatory committee of the 5th meeting which convened in Amman today
that the meeting comes at a time when Iraq and the region were passing through
difficult circumstances.
He expressed hope that the meeting would contribute to supporting Iraq in
addressing challenges facing it.
Abu Jamous said the meeting provides an opportunity to discus and exchange views
on the best means to strengthen cooperation and coordination among concerned
departments to combat terrorism and organized crime and achieve security and
stability in Iraq and its neighboring countries.
“We in Jordan are ready to cooperate to support security and unity of Iraq,” he
said, stressing the need to help the Iraqis to restore security and stability in
the country.
