Kingdom’s illiteracy
rate drops to 7.9 per cent in 2008
Minister of Education Tayseer Nueimi on Wednesday announced that Jordan has
achieved the highest level of literacy in the Arab region as illiteracy rates
have dropped from 45 per cent in 1970 to 7.9 per cent in 2008. During his speech
to commemorate Arab Literacy Day, he expected that the level of illiteracy in
the Kingdom will decrease to 5 per cent by 2015.
