King directs government
to facilitate entry of Iraqis into the Kingdom
Amman, Jan. 22 (Petra) – His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday directed the
government to take immediate steps to facilitate entry and residency of Iraqis
into the Kingdom.
The King made his remarks during a meeting dedicated to discussing steps needed
to remove obstacles facing Iraqis who come to or reside in Jordan.
King Abdullah said he was keen to take all needed steps to ease the movement of
Iraqis, who arrive in the Kingdom as welcomed guests who enjoy care and respect.
Prime Minister Nadir Dahabi said the government will evaluate the current
procedures regarding entry of Iraqis and amend them to remove all obstacles
hindering their movement and entry into the Kingdom.
In his Speech from the Throne to the Fifteenth Parliament's Second Ordinary
Session last October, King Abdullah said “We are keen to support the Iraqi
people and stand by them until Iraq regains its natural status in its Arab and
Islamic sphere, and until Iraqis enjoy security, stability, progress and
prosperity.
