Zoellick: Jordanian economy is capable to surpass crisis
Washington, April 23 (Petra)-- The president of
the World Bank, Robert Zoellick, commended Wednesday Jordan's capability to deal
with global financial crisis and its effect on national economy .
He expressed confidence in the Jordanian economy to overcome the adverse
consequences of this crisis.
Zoellick made his remarks during his meeting with Prime Minister Nader Dahabi at
the World Bank Headquarters on Wednesday.
The Premier praised the role of the World Bank in providing support for Jordan's
economic development programmers.
The two sides reviewed progress in projects and programs funded by the World
Bank, and also discussed other projects planned to be funded by the bank in the
future.
The World Bank is a key source for providing Jordan with grants and loans.
Until last Februay, the bank's total loans to Jordan amounted to about JD 602
million, out of JD3487 million of the overall balance of external public debt of
the Kingdom.
