Obama calls King
on Mideast peace
AMMAN (JT) - His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received a phone call from
US President Barack Obama, during which the two leaders discussed Middle East
peace efforts, a Royal Court statement said.
The King told Obama that finding a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
is a priority and a prerequisite to regional peace and stability, reiterating a
call for launching serious and direct negotiations between the Palestinians and
Israel that lead to implementing the internationally endorsed two-state formula.
His Majesty voiced appreciation for the speech Obama delivered in Cairo last
week addressing the Muslim nation and his renewal of US support for the
two-state solution.
