Judeh praises US
commitment to peace efforts
CAIRO (Petra) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh on Wednesday welcomed
statements made by the US administration and its commitment to Middle East peace
process by launching serious negotiations on all tracks.
Addressing Arab foreign ministers at the Arab League's extraordinary meeting, he
said: “We are looking forward to the US administration declaring its plans to
launch peace negotiations on all tracks from where they have stopped.”
Judeh said the meeting was held in the presence of an international consensus
and efforts to resume serious peace negotiations that lead to implementing the
two-state solution by establishing a sovereign, viable and contiguous
Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Judeh underlined that the US administration had clearly emphasised that Israel
must stop all settlement activity and had expressed its commitment to the
two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
He also reiterated the need to seize the opportunity available at present to
achieve a comprehensive and just peace, which, he said, has become important not
only for the region and its people but also for the whole world.
In the final communiqué, the Arab foreign ministers welcomed the statements
which US President Barack Obama made in his recent speech at Cairo University
and called for peace on the basis of international resolutions and the Arab
Peace Initiative.
