AMMAN (JT) –– His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday called on the international community to intensify its efforts to bring peace and stability to the Middle East.

During a meeting with members of the Jordanian-French Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the French senate, the Monarch stressed the importance of relaunching serious peace negotiations to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution within a regional context and in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

King Abdullah also reviewed with the French lawmakers means to boost cooperation between Jordan and France, particularly in the economic and parliamentary fields, highlighting France’s support for development projects in Jordan including water, communications and mining.

The meeting was attended by Senate President Zeid Rifai, Royal Court Chief Nasser Lozi and King’s Adviser Ayman Safadi.

On Monday, the French delegation comprising Brigitte Bout, Jean-Pierre Michel and Sylvie Desmarescaux met separately with Prime Minister Nader Dahabi, Rifai and Lower House Speaker Abdul Hadi Majali and discussed means to foster bilateral cooperation and the latest regional developments.
