Two-state solution is basis to end Palestinian-Israeli conflict: King

Idaho, July 11, (Petra)--His Majesty King Abdullah II said the two-state solution is the basis to end Palestinian-Israeli conflict in a bid to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

The Monarch, who participated in an economic conference held in US state of Idaho Friday, and also attended by Queen Rania and Crown Prince Hussein Ben Abdullah, stressed need to relaunch Palestinian-Israeli negotiations according to a specific timetable and a clear plan within a comprehensive regional context.

" This process guarantees establishment of an independent Palestinian state on national Palestinian soil and ensures security and acceptance for Israel," the King added.

The King urged international community to step up its efforts in the coming period based on concrete steps to achieve a tangible progress in peace talks in a bid to reach a comprehensive settlement and a secure Middle East according to international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The Monarch, who later took part in a discussion session, which brought together prominent global, economic and political figures, affirmed the achievement of Mideast peace contributes to help the region's countries provide better economic and living conditions to its people , attract international investments and create job opportunities for future generations.

His Majesty also highlighted programmes and projects currently being carried out by government to develop the Kingdom, ensure better living standards for Jordanians and enhance performance of national economy.

The King touched on Jordan’s plans to diversify energy resources , which will positively impact the country’s capability to handle fluctuations of world markets.

The Monarch also underlined Jordan’s economic partnerships with a range of countries across the world , saying the Kingdom has become a haven for attracting international investments.

On the sidelines of Idaho conference, His Majesty discussed with Colombian leader Alvaro Uribe ways to boost bilateral cooperation ties and Mideast developments.
