Gov’t looking to
increase women’s quota
Minister of Political Development Musa Maaytah on Monday said the government is
looking to increase the number of seats allocated for women in Parliament under
the quota system. At the closing ceremony of a project that seeks to promote
women's right to participate in the Kingdom's political life, Maaytah added that
the new elections law will be endorsed before the announcement of the final date
for the elections in the last quarter of this year. Supported by the Canadian
International Development Agency, around 30 men and women took part in the
project, which aims to raise awareness on women's rights guaranteed by the
Constitution.
