King hails "successful" Iraqi
elections
Amman, April 8 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Thursday hailed as a
success recent parliamentary elections in Iraq and pledged Jordan's full support
of its neighbour's security.
The King made the remarks during a meeting with visiting Iraqi Vice President,
Adel Abdul-Mahdi, to discuss political developments in Iraq after last month's
polls.
He said that Jordan would offer all-out support to its fellow Arab neighbour,
"Whose security and stability is a key pillar of regional stability.
" The meeting with Mahdi, who is on a tour of the region, also tackled
Jordanian-Iraqi ties and ways to enhance cooperation in various fields.
During the meeting, attended by the King's aides and the intelligence chief, the
Iraqi Vice-President expressed his country's gratitude to Jordan for its
support, noting that Iraq would seek to foster ties with the Kingdom.
