King, Clinton discuss peace
process
AMMAN (JT) - His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday discussed the latest regional
developments with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
During a phone call, the King and the US official reviewed ongoing efforts to
remove obstacles hindering progress towards resolving the Palestinian-Israeli
conflict on the basis of the two-state solution and within a regional context,
according to a Royal Court statement.
The King met with Clinton in Washington on June 11 and discussed regional
developments. During the meeting, the Monarch stressed the importance of US and
international efforts to achieve progress in peace efforts, warning that a
continuation of the status quo will increase regional tensions, ignite violence
and jeopardise global stability.
The King’s visit to the US was part of a tour that took him to the UK and Norway
where talks also focused on the Mideast peace process and world efforts to
alleviate the suffering of Palestinians.
