FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jordan’s Foreign Minister to meet with U.S. Secretary of State
Talks to focus on Mideast Peace
January 6th 2009, Washington, DC- Jordan’s Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh will meet with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other U.S. officials on Friday, January 8th 2009.
Minister Judeh will focus on the need for continuing the leading role that the US assumes to move peace efforts forward and resuming serious, benchmarked and time lined negotiations from the point at which they had stopped to realize the two-State solution and achieve comprehensive peace in the Middle East on the basis of the internationally agreed upon terms of reference for Middle East Peace and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Judeh will stress the sense or urgency and the importance of re-launching negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis in the context of a clear plan that contains a well defined end-game and addresses all final status issues, especially borders, refugees, Jerusalem, security and water within a regional context that leads to comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
Talks will also include issues of shared interest in the region and bilateral relations.
