King Abdullah II meets with Arab, Muslim and Jewish
American leaders
Washington (17 April 2009) – His Majesty
King Abdullah II received in the US capital today
representatives of Arab and Muslim American
organizations and discussed current efforts to re-launch
Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations within the
framework of efforts to reach a comprehensive Middle
East settlement.
King Abdullah who also met with representative of Jewish
American organizations emphasized the urgency of
resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis
of the two-state solution that will guarantee security
for Israel and the establishment of an independent
Palestinian state.
He said the Arab Peace Initiative offers a significant
opportunity to reach a comprehensive peace that will
meet the legitimate rights of all parties and ensure
normal relations for Israel with all its Arab neighbours.
In remarks at both meetings, King Abdullah said he was
looking forward to meeting U.S. President Barack Obama
on Tuesday for talks on efforts to re-launch
Palestinian-Israeli negotiations and bring about
comprehensive peace to the region.
