Khatib to attend UNGA meeting
Washington, DC (
September 21)—
Jordan's Foreign Minister Abdul Illah Khatib will
attend the sixty second session of the United
Nations General Assembly at the UN headquarters in
New York this week.
Khatib will also participate in the high-level
meeting of the Middle East Quartet before the
General Assembly. In a statement to Jordan's
official news agency, Petra, Khatib underlined the
importance of this meeting, which will include the
follow-up committee of the Arab peace initiative and
the International Quartet. Khatib noted that the
meeting will present an opportunity to discuss the
issues related to the international peace meeting in
November.
Khatib will also take part in the meeting of Iraq's
neighbors and international parties concerned with
the Iraqi issue at the UN gathering.
The foreign Minister will hold bilateral meetings
with a number of foreign ministers of friendly
countries to discuss bilateral ties on the sideline
of the UN meetings.
