Jordan's Foreign Minister Bashir
to Head Delegation at Annapolis
November 26, 2007, Washington, DC - Foreign
Minister Salaheddine Bashir left for the US on Sunday
heading the Jordanian delegation taking part in the
US-hosted Middle East peace meeting in Annapolis on
Tuesday, November 27, 2007.
Jordan hopes the Annapolis peace meeting will succeed in
launching real and comprehensive negotiations between
Israelis and Palestinians that would tackle final status
issues within a defined timeline in order to end the
sixty year old conflict and establish an independent
Palestinian state.
His Majesty King Abdullah II has emphasized in his
conversations with Arab and Israeli leaders this week
that the opportunity presented by the U.S. hosted
Annapolis meeting should be "seized to build trust
between the Palestinians and Israel during the coming
stage to help achieve a just peace in the Middle East."
