As an American, I am deeply
grateful for the support of your nation during this time of conflict.
Jordan, and especially His
Majesty King Abdullah, have proven to be a true friend of the United
States.
I hope that the consequences of
your support, given that public opinion in Jordan is heavily against
this action in Iraq, can be successfully managed without great harm
coming to the Kingdom.
I wish you and the people of
Jordan peace and prosperity.

country, and we feel for all counties. I hope there will be peace everywhere soon! I love hearing you on
TV. Your a small country, but I'm fascinated on what you have to say. You had a wonderful father and I remember him so
well, I miss seeing him in the news. He was a wonderful human being- I wish more leaders around the world were like him!

Comments: Dear Mr. Ambassador:
I am an ordinary citizen
of the United States who would like to express to you my feelings
of His Majesty, King Abdullah II. For decades I was an admirer of
King Hussein I (we were approximately the same age) and when I was
able to write a letter like this to him, he answered me in a most
gracious manner.
Today I observed on
television the worthy son of a worthy father. What was striking
about King Abdullah's statements was their clarity and honesty in
stark contrast to the deceit of a prior spokesperson on the news
program.
Perhaps you could convey
to the king that my admiration for his father is passed in full
measure to the son. I wish him and his nation a time of justice and
a long reign in peace.

around the world in your just cause of fighting for peace through
words. If only more world leaders would have the courage to
stand up and say "Enough is Enough" than this world will
become a better place. I feel that your work in terms of
interviews with American journalists has done much to sway the
American people to see both sides of the Mideast conflict. I urge
you to continue your cause. I feel that you will become
revered in later days as the King who actively wondered across the
globe in persuasion for Peace. As an American who enjoys
peace and freedom, and would like to see it extended to the rest of
the world, thank you.

Comments: Dear Friends at the Embassy of Jordan,
I wish to commend His Majesty King Abdullah II on his fervent
efforts to bring peace to the Middle-East. His voice is a voice
desperately needed for this time. He is a peacemaker. What higher
accolade can be offered to any man?
I was in your wonderful country during the period of mourning for
His Majesty King Hussein. Whenever I had the opportunity, I offered
my condolences to the Jordanian people whom I met. And I told them
that their King was greatly loved in the United States. Many
Jordanians expressed surprise that I knew of their King, let alone
that I held him in great esteem and that I shared in their feeling
of loss.
We Americans are known for saying what is on our minds and the
protocol which governs our words is minimal. So please permit me to
say that I find His Majesty King Abdullah II a fitting and worthy
successor to his late father, His Majesty King Hussein.
I sincerely hope that His Majesty King Abdullah II is aware that he
is highly regarded by the American people and that he is rapidly
gaining their esteem and love.
Sincerely,
Ronald J. Skinner

Comments: As a British citizen (living in the US for 30 yrs)
I have always been aware of the close relationship between Jordan
and Britain. I was an admirer of the late King Hussein whom I
regarded as a very honourable man. I was deeply saddened by his
death and I feared that his absence as a leader of great stature
would make the task of arriving at a peace agreement in the Middle
East almost impossible. Knowing little of King Abdullah I did not
know if he could step into his fathers shoes.
This evening I and my wife
watched the King addressing an audience at Rice University on CSPAN.
We were both very impressed by the kings most eloquent speech. He
demonstrated an understanding of the problems and desires of both
sides in this conflict. I wish that he could have a platform that
would reach a greater audience so that all the American people
could hear him and be assured that there are good and honest
leaders who desire peace.
Please convey my best
wishes to His Majesty and to all the Jordanian people.

However in the past few years I followed His Majesty, King Abdullah

everything but he is the only Arab leader I would trust with
Israel. He is smart, articulate, friendly and very presentable. He
is sincere and I believe that he is and will continue to grow as
the leading Arab figure in the middle east. I really wish him and

Comments: I saw Dan Rather's interview with His Majesty on the
CBS Evening News on Sunday, and I just wanted to let you know how
fortunate you are to have him as your monarch and leader. Fortunate
also are the Arab people to have such a dynamic, articulate and
wise leader putting forth the morally reasoned and responsible view
and condemnation of the blatantly vicious and morally indefensible
subjugation and brutal attacks against the virtually defenseless
Palestinian people in their homeland.
As one who has traveled to
Jordan for business purpose and who had the great honor and
privilege last year to meet in brief private audience with His
Majesty, (whom I first met in 1981), I wish the Jordanian people
and their King peace, tranquility and prosperity despite all the
troubling reality of what is being inflicted on their Palestinian
brothers and sisters. I hope to return to Jordan in the near
future, inshallah, for it is a country that I have come to truly
love.

I write to beg of you to
demonstrate opposition and release statements of protest against
the Israeli government. Please take note of Israeli aggression, as
it seeks no peace with the Palestinians.
Please do not be fooled
any longer by the rhetoric of the American or Israeli government
about establishing peace in the Middle East. Such a thing will not
be handed to us on a silver platter, but we ourselves as people of
conscience across the world must struggle and work towards forcing
the governments of these countries towards peace and not
provocation and violence. This can only be achieved if we firmly
make public our disgust with the hypocrisy in this country and
Israel towards the people of the Middle East, namely the
Palestinians.
Thank you, your Honor. I

Palestine during this tragic moment, and in return will earn the
honor and respect of people in the USA and across the world.

Comments: Dear Ambassador,
Thank you for taking the time to read this message As an American citizen , I want to
take the opportunity to extend my sincerest gratitude to the people of Jordan and your government for their support in the global effort to eradicate terrorism. I want you to know that your contributions are not going unnoticed and that it is deeply affecting to find Jordan standing side-by-side with the United States in this, her darkest hour of need. I
realize the stance your government has taken is not an easy one to make. Please know that
America understands this and the holds your nation in the utmost respect for its brave
decision As you are well aware, American lives were not the only ones lost in the attacks
on New York and Washington. Countless nations are grieving the loss of citizens who
worked in the World Trade Centers and it is important to know that this is not simply a
Western war. The horrific events that took place on September 11th could just have easily occurred in Jordan or anywhere else in the civilized world. As long as the perpetrators
and those like them who wish to destroy the concept of freedom and security are allowed
to commit terrorist acts, no nation is immune. This is why the assistance of your
government is invaluable in the war on terrorism, be it military, economic, intelligence, diplomatic, or simply moral. I am greatly encouraged by your government’s
acknowledgment that this is a battle against terrorism and not with the Islamic faith. Please understand that the American people, while perhaps not comprehensively educated in the
teachings of Islam, are resolute in their respect to its Muslim counterparts worldwide Religious freedom, after all, was the reason the United States of America came to be. Jordan has stood as an unfailing ally and friend to the United States and it is my greatest hope that it will continue to do so. In short, thank you. At times it may not seem that your brave acts of courage and heroism are recognized, but I say to you this: never forget, your bravery is noticed

it is especially meaningful to have the support of a Middle Eastern nation such as Jordan.
We know that many militant
fundamentalists hate the United States, thus it takes a great deal of courage and integrity to openly declare that you stand firmly with us.
We hope that our own government will respond in a more helpful way to the legitimate concerns of the Palestinian people by adopting a more balanced policy and by working toward the creation of a free and independent, Palestinian
State. Only then, will peace and justice endure. Respectfully yours.

I would like to know if it would be considered proper to send him a letter thanking him, and if so, to what address should it be sent. I would appreciate any guidance on this issue. Comments: Dear Embassy personnel: I saw Queen Rania & King Abdullah on Larry King Live last night, Sept. 18, 2001. I was impressed with their eloquence, their intelligence, and their sincerity. I was very touched by their concern for us. It made me feel like the United States has a good friend in Jordan, which gave me a little bit of hope and light in an otherwise extremely dark time. I was unable to reach King Abdullah's website so I hope in some way you could pass my appreciation on to the King & Queen (if that is appropriate or even possible).

Dear Friends, My name is Jim Stanley and I am a citizen of the United States. I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation to your government and people for their prayers, condolences and expressions of support during the recent terrorist crisis here in the U.S. You will never know how deeply your nation's compassion has touched Americans. Thank you for standing with us in our time of crisis.
I would also like to urge your government and people to support and, if possible, participate in military action against terrorists around the globe. We may never win the war on terrorism, but if we all work together, we can severely impede the ability of terrorists to make war on the civilized and freedom-loving peoples of the world.
Thank you and may God Bless the people of Jordan. With Warmest Assurances of Friendship,

King Abdullah exemplified leadership qualities and a grasp of the international implications of the terrorist attack on the US. He is an intelligent individual who should bring balance to the Mid-East Crisis. I sincerely hope he uses his influence to drive peace in the Mid-East, and assist with the investigation on the attack of the US.

Comments: Dear King Abdullah, A few days ago, I was up early in the morning. I turned on the television,
and you were speaking. I was transfixed watching you. It was like hearing a member of my family speak: You are so compassionate, and the honesty and goodness and integrity in you shines. And I thought, "We are fortunate to
have this man as a friend." And then I thought, "No, this man is more than a friend. This man is part of our family."
I remember when your father visited the home of an Israeli family whose child had been killed, and how the Israelis called him a Prince of Peace. And I
always thought your father one of the best people in the human family in his time. When I saw you, my heart leapt with such hope that I have no way to
express it. Because when we have leaders who see so clearly, love so deeply, and live their lives in the defense of the dignity of humanity, we have every
right to hope that goodness, truth and beauty will prevail and that the human family will sometime, somewhere come to the point that in every face we see a brother or sister.
I stood in the front of the television crying in grief, but touched also so
deeply by your compassion that undeniably, though the well of this agony
seems bottomless, I could feel the healing beginning to occur.
To the people of Jordan who have striven for half a century as peacekeepers
among mortal enemies, healers in the midst of those who wound and damage
others, and torchbearers in the darkness every time we as a world seem to
lose hope about it, I send my great love and deep admiration. You are
marvelous people, and you are a gift to the world.
And for you, King Abdullah, I have a gratitude I don't know how to express.
When you spoke here in the United States, yours was a voice of such healing.
I don't know if you will realize what it means to us to be touched with your
compassion in this time. I don't know how we can ever repay you.
With love and peace, M. Sinclair Orlando, Florida

I am an American who is very, very grateful for your countries commitment and cooperation regarding the past weeks events in my country. I am an American
Viet Nam Veteran and well experienced in the realities of war. I was most impressed and pleased with the interview of your gracious King and Queen with
Larry King. Please convey to your people that it is moments such as this that my country deeply needs now. We must and will respond in the future
(soon I hope) to this act of war. However, I found the King and Queens comments very reassuring and hope that this commitment continues when action
is taken. We Americans also understand that it will take a tremendous amount of courage for countries in the Middle East to show support as they may very
well be on the front lines of a possible response. This situation now involves all peace loving countries as many nations have victims in the WTC
tragedy, including yours.
As the days ahead may prove very, very dangerous, we here in American will pick up, build, and survive, as will all countries who believe in what is
right. Please convey a special thanks of appreciation to your King and Queen who so
admirably spoke with Larry King and to the people of my country. God bless you all.

As a concerned American citizen, I was extremely impressed by and grateful to His Majesty Abdullah II for the kind and intelligent remarks he has made in interviews with various television reporters concerning the horrible
tragedy which has occurred in NYC and Washington and Pennsylvania. It is heartening to know that the United States does have a reliable and good Arabic friend in the Middle East. Jordan should be proud of its wise and
excellent leader; if only more governments were led by such a man, the establishment of peace in troubled areas of the world would be
manifestly possible.
Please inform HM Abdullah II that ordinary Americans like me are appreciative of his strong and wise leadership of such an important country as Jordan. I am a practicing Christian who, like most of my American friends, respects the right of all people to practice the religion of their choice. We also recognize that Islam promotes peace and respect among
people. What a great and dignified exemplar of the tenets of Islam is your excellent leader. May God bless America and the Kingdom of Jordan and may He bless President Bush, HM Abdullah II and their respective counselors and advisors.

don't belong here! We have an Islamic Education center here in our neighborhood, they went to the trouble of putting up an American Flag and a sign

Comments: Dear Sir: It gives me great comfort to know our Jordanian friends stand so firm with Americans at this time of national tragedy. This horrible attack is an affront to the freedom loving people all over the world.
Over the past days I have seen His Majesty King Abdullah II give numerous interviews on American television. What a truly inspirational man he is. His words
were moving in regard to the innocent victims and reassuring in regard to the future. His father, one of the great
men of the past century, His Majesty King Hussein, would be very proud indeed.
In May of 1997 I wrote His Majesty King Hussein after the border deaths at Beit Shemesh as I was so moved by his response. In return I received a
lovely letter from the Chief of Royal Protocol, Ayman Majali. That letter is on the wall above my desk, it is an honor to have it hang there.
There are three reasons for writing you today. First, thank-you for being so supportive of our country. At times, being a friend of the United States can make you a target, especially in your part of the world. It takes courage stand so firmly with us.
Second, can you please send my the proper mailing address for the Royal Hashemite Court as I wish to write His Majesty King Abdullah II.
Third, is it possible to request a photo of His Majesty King Abdullah II. I would like to frame and place it
next to my letter. Thank you in advance for taking the time to address my questions. My best wishes to you and all Jordanians.
